Behind The Scenes: Winchester Tour Stop

There was lots of fun to be had Thursday as the Washington Redskins 80th Anniversary Thank You Tour made the first stop of its two-month-long trek in Winchester, Va.

And, boy, what a warm reception we received.

The Winchester trip included three stops, each of which had its own unique and awesome vibe: At the Winchester Rotary Club Luncheon (which featured a delicious beef and noodles spread); at NW Works, Inc., a great facility that provides training and employment to adult individuals who typically would not have the opportunity to work; and finally at Handley High School’s football field, where hundreds welcomed our crew with a community rally.

On board the bus Thursday were, among others: Former Redskins’ greats Fred Dean, Mark Moseley and Dexter Manley; Redskins’ general manager Bruce Allen; and, of course, the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders.

Current Redskins’ offensive linemen Kory Lichtensteiger and Will Montgomery — who participated in the team’s organized team activities at Redskins Park earlier in the day — joined us at the Handley High School rally.

Everybody aboard signed lots of autographs and handed out some awesome Redskins 80th Anniversary gear.

I, meanwhile, am yet to get asked for an autograph. It’s all good.
